Strawberry Picking

One of the best thing about summer is the fruit, especially strawberries; they taste nicest fresh and I believe the best way is to go out and pick your own. Even though it's one of my favourite summer activities, I haven't been since I was little. As the weather has been so nice these last few weeks, my mum and I thought we would go and pick our own strawberries and raspberries this year.

The closest pick-your-own farm to us is Hill Farm; is a family run business that is open from June to August where you can pick your own fruit and vegetables. We went on a Sunday lunchtime and it was fairly busy; but as it was lunchtime most families were eating their lunch, leaving it fairy quiet by the strawberries and raspberries.

It's so easy to do, we got right into it. But the hard part was definitely trying not to eat all the strawberries before putting them in the punnet, it required lots of self-control. I thoroughly enjoyed my time picking the berries, but we knew it was time to go home when my hay-fever got the best of me.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my adventure picking fruit; let me know if you've been this year, or what your favourite fruit has been this summer. Thank you for reading,

Review | NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick - Sandstorm

A month or two ago I found out that there would soon be a NYX counter at my local boots; I was so excited and found myself walking in  as soon as it arrived. As I was on a budget I went in only to have a browse (and using as much will power as I could muster) managed to come out with just one Liquid Suede Lipstick!

Each NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick comes in a chubby plastic tube (housing 0.13oz of product), with an attached flat sponge tip application wand. I picked up my Liquid Suede Lipstick in the shade Sandstorm; Sandstorm is a medium cool toned nude shade. I've been looking for a nude lipstick for my collection as I've heavily been using Mac's Velvet Teddy recently. The shade is so pretty on and is definitely wearable on a daily basis. It's worth taking note that the tube of lip colour looks a bit darker than the actual shade of the lipstick.

As for the formula, it wasn't drying for my lips at all (unlike a lot of matte products I've tried out); it was so comfortable to wear, so much that I forgot I was wearing anything on my lips! Although it was lightweight, it does take some time for the creamy formula to dry. Especially if you've applied it thick or used multiple coats; I would say that it takes anywhere between two and six minutes to dry.

The Liquid Lipstick is very pigmented, but becomes a bit streaky at first and may need to cover it up with more product for an even application. But, there was no problems cracking or bleeding which is a definite plus! I also lasted roughly five hours before I had to reapply.

I like to pair this particular shade up with Barry M's lip liner #17 and together it makes an absolutely gorgeous colour! For only £6.50 NYX's Sandstorm is enough for me to fall in love with it and I'd love to try out the shade 'Soft Spoken' next.

Have you tried any of the NYX Liquid Suede Lipsticks?

House of Minalima | Harry Potter Exhibition

If you've read my two blog posts on the Harry Potter Studio Tour (Tour and Merchandise) you will know that I'm a huge Harry Potter Fan! As I was in London with my mum to see Les Misérables a couple of weeks ago, we decided to visit the House of MinaLima.

Graphic Designers Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima are showing a collection of their graphic designs at this new exhibition, that's tucked away agh 26 Greek Street in London's West End. It's just around the corner from the Palace Theatre (where Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is shown), very fitting I think!

The brightly coloured House of MinaLima is a four-storey gallery featuring tons of their designs from artworks to props from the iconic Harry Potter films. The building is remarkably charming with its unusual shape, uneven and narrow staircase.

The first floor is a gift shop, where you are  able to purchase prints that can be seen in the exhibition, as well as tons of Harry Potter Stationary. A staircase with Hogwarts letters on then leads you up to the second floor.

The second floor is the most colourful floor and it houses wallpapers, posters, The Marauders Map as well as merchandise from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes.

The third floor shows off wizard books (such as 'Beedle the Bard' and 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them') and even has a fireplace with tons of Harry Potter's acceptance letters flying out! This had to be my favourite thing to see out of the whole exhibition!

Lasty, the top floor is dedicated the the magical newspaper: The Daily Prophet. The walls are plastered in it's articles; I really loved that you can see every tiny detail that makes up each and every newspaper.

Best of all, entry is free; you can just turn up on the day! The House of MinaLima is open daily from 12pm to 7pm until February 2017. Let me know if you've been and what you thought of what was on offer to view. Thanks for reading,

Benefit Makeover

Last Wednesday, mum and I travelled into London as we had tickets to see the matinée of Les Misérables; it's my favourite musical so I was very excited! We ended up getting there super early and after walking round for a while, we were at a loose end of what to do. I fancied going into benefit to look at their eyebrow products and ended up leaving with a full makeover!

In their Covent Garden store, Benefit do a deal where you pay £30 for a full face of makeup and you then walk away with £30 worth of products (of your choice). I chose to have an everyday look with a brownish smoky eye; I thought I would share with you what the Benefit Makeup Artist used on my face!

I particularly liked how the foundation and concealer looked and felt on my face; they were so lightweight and looked more flawless than any other foundation I've used. However, I chose to take a couple of the brow products away with me, as that's what I went in for. I definitely recommend getting a makeover at Benefit if you have an event or if you just fancy trying out the products! Have you ever had a makeover at Benefit or any other beauty store? Books to Read This Summer

My life has been pretty hectic this past few months with rehearsals and shows; unfortunately my love for reading had to be put on hold. But now it's the summer holidays I really look forward to a few months where I can read for enjoyment and start to read the pile of books I've set aside; as well as get on-top of my goodreads challenge. I thought I'd share with you what I will be reading this summer.

1. On The Other Side - Carrie Hope Fletcher

Evie Snow is eighty-two when she quietly passes away in her sleep, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. It's the way most people wish to leave the world but when Evie reaches the door of her own private heaven, she finds that she's become her twenty-seven-year-old self and the door won't open.

Evie's soul must be light enough to pass through so she needs to get rid of whatever is making her soul heavy. For Evie, this means unburdening herself of the three secrets that have weighed her down for over fifty years, so she must find a way to reveal them before it's too late. As Evie begins the journey of a lifetime, she learns more about life and love than she ever thought possible, and somehow, some way, she may also find her way back to her long lost love...

2. Salem Falls - Jodie Picoult

The man you love is accused of rape. It's not the first time. What would you do?

Jack St. Bride was once a beloved teacher and soccer coach at a girls' prep school - until a student's crush sparked a powder keg of accusation and robbed him of his career and reputation. Now, after a devastatingly public ordeal that left him with an eight-month jail sentence and no job, Jack resolves to pick up the pieces of his life. He takes a job washing dishes at Addie Peabody's diner and slowly starts to form a relationship with her in the quiet New England village of Salem Falls. But just when Jack thinks he has outrun his past, a quartet of teenage girls with a secret turn his world upside down once again, triggering a modern-day witch hunt in a town haunted by its own history...

3. The Girl on the Train - Paula Hawkins

EVERY DAY THE SAME Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She's even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

UNTIL TODAY And then she sees something shocking. It's only a minute until the train moves on, but it's enough. Now everything's changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel goes to the police. But is she really as unreliable as they say? Soon she is deeply entangled not only in the investigation but in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?

4. Always With Love - Giovanna Fletcher

The next much-anticipated romantic chapter in Billy and Sophie's love story from bestselling author Giovanna Fletcher.

Sophie's got used to being the girlfriend of Billy Buskin, the biggest movie star in the world. Sort of. But when she and Billy take a trip to visit his family in Los Angeles, she quickly discovers she's totally unprepared for the chaos of Hollywood, the paparazzi and Billy's controlling mother. And when Billy extends his stay in LA, leaving Sophie to fly home to Rosefont Hill alone, it seems there's more than just miles between them. Now Sophie must decide if they can overcome their differences for good. Because not every love story lasts the distance...

5. Faceless - Alyssa B. Sheinmel

When Maisie Winters wakes up, she's in the hospital.

The last thing she remembers is running through the hills of her neighbourhood one misty morning. Slowly, she put the pieces together. Before she could make it home, a storm gathered. Lightning hit a power line and sparks rained down, the hot-burning electrical fire consuming her. Destroying her face. Where her nose, cheeks and chin used to be, now there is... nothing.

Maisie's lucky enough to qualify for a rare medical treatment: a face transplant. At least, everyone  says she's lucky. But with someone else's features staring back at her in the mirror, Maisie looks - and feels - like a stranger. The doctors promised that the transplant was her chance to live a normal life again, but nothing feels normal anymore.  Before, she knew who she was - a regular girl who ran track and got good grades, who loved her boyfriend and her best friend. Now, she can'r even recognise herself.

July Favourites

Since I haven't done a favourites post in ages, I thought it might be a nice idea to do one for this previous month. These are one of my favourite posts to read; I'm hoping to make this a more regular thing. I hope you enjoy reading what beauty products, fashion items and TV programmes/books I've enjoyed this month.

5 Beauty Favourites

1. St Moritz Tanning Mousse

As I had my show at the beginning of this month, I needed to get my tan on! It's so easy to apply without being streaky; this has been my saviour this month.

2. NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick - Sandstorm

Since having a NYX counter in my local Boots, I've been in so many times for a snoop around; last time I came away with this product. I love the colour and it's been the perfect colour for this month. Check back on Sunday 14th August for a full review on this product!

3. Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Eyebrow Gel

This is a product that I was recommended when I visited the Covent Garden Benefit store recently. I now much prefer using a gel to fill my eyebrows in rather than the pencil that I was using before. Check back on Sunday 7th August to find out which products were used in my Benefit Makeover!

4. Barry M Lip Liner #17

I love the colour of this lip liner and for £2.99 it is a complete steal! It also goes so well with the NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in Sandstorm.

5. Benefit They're Real! Lengthening Mascara

This is a product that I bought ages ago but got lost in my makeup drawers. I recently picked it out to use and have fallen in love with it all over again.
5 Fashion Favourites

1. Hollister Printed Lace-Trim Romper

I love the design of this playsuit with it's V neckline, lace/ruffle trims and drawstring waist. It's so comfortable to wear and was the perfect thing to wear for the week of nice weather we had in the UK this month.

2. Accessorize Sandals

I had foot surgery earlier this month and I've had to wear open toed shoes; these have been the perfect shoes to wear all this month. I literally haven't taken them off!

3. Jack Wills Grey Pulborough Sweatshirt

I bought this on sale this month for £22, which was a bargain. It's so comfortable and has been perfect to wear for the colder parts of this month.

4. ASOS Silver Hoop Earrings

Sometimes I find it difficult to buy earrings as I'm allergic to any ones that aren't sterling silver. However, I was having a browse on the ASOS website and found these lovely hoop earrings! I've loved wearing them this month.

5. Miss Selfridge Petites Coral Cami Top

I also bought this top on sale this month (how good have the sales been?) and I've loved wearing it since. It's the perfect bright coral colour for this summer month!

5 TV and Book Favourites

1. So You Think You Can Dance - The Next Generation

Being a dancer I am obsessed with this show, from the technique to the choreography I am mesmerised.  With these kids being 13 years old and under they are incredible and I've found this TV show so entertaining to watch this past month.

2. Pretty Little Liars

I've always been a huge fan of PLL, but season 7 has knocked it out of the park for me! The whole storyline with Mary Drake and Dr. Rollins has had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I really can't wait to watch the rest of the season.

3. Eastenders

How good has Eastenders been this last month? From deaths to drama everything has been included in it and I've loved it this month.

4. Child Genius

I've been watching the past series of this show with my Dad this month to catch up, and I'll have to admit I'm hooked!

5. Faceless - By Alyssa Sheinmel

I've read this book this month and I finished it within two days, I just couldn't put it down! It hit me in the feels, and really got me thinking about what it would be like to have a transplant (even though it was fiction, it seemed so real).
I hope you've enjoyed reading what I've loved this month; let me know what you've been loving as I'd love to know! Thanks for reading,
