Mac Lipstick - Velvet Teddy Review

When I was London with my friend Tabitha (read more here) I popped into the Mac shop in Covent Garden; I couldn't resist picking up a couple of their lipsticks (as I absolutely adore them). I'm planning to review them over the next couple of months so look out; the first one is Velvet Teddy.
MAC Lipstick in 'Velvet Teddy'/£15.50

I've been wanting Velvet Teddy for ages after it being recommended by quite of my friends. I'm so happy that I managed to get my hands on it; ever since purchasing it has been a go to lip product of mine.

Velvet Teddy is a pinkish/brown nude shade that funnily looks different on each person, depending on your skin tone. If your like me it looks a warm brown colour but on others it can even appear a peachy shade. Velvet Teddy works beautifully on warmer skin tones just as well as contrasting perfectly against pale complexions. The colour is like 'your lips but better'; it really is the perfect nude lipstick. It's great during the Winter months and can be used as an everyday lipstick or even paired with some heels for the evening.

This lipstick is very hydrating, which I really didn't expect from a matte lipstick. It's staying power is great too, I don't even worry about touching it up later in the day! One layer of lipstick and you're ready to go for the rest of the day! It also doesn't highlight any dry patches on your skin, so you can even wear it on chapped lip days! Perfect for just after the winter when the weather is too cold for your lips.

I always love the packaging of Mac Lipsticks, the tubes are classy and simple which is perfect for a perfectionist like me! They look so good on my vanity or even in my make-up bag.

What's your favourite Mac Lipstick? Thank you for reading,

January Nail Varnish Choice | Tanya Burr Duvet Day

I've been meaning to try out the Tanya Burr Nail Varnish range since it was reformulated back in September. As I am a bit of a nail varnish hoarder, I thought it was only time to pick one up from my local Superdrug store.

I decided on 'Duvet Day' because I felt that it was so unique and the perfect pale grey colour with a hint of light blue. It's perfect for wearing day to day; was the perfect shade to get me through the January Blues (read more here!). The new packaging is super cute with its gold lid, and heart detailing.

I used a base coat, two coats of Duvet Day and a top coat and it managed to last me 4-5 days without chipping - pretty good in my eyes.

I adore this colour, although my mum and sister hated it, I got so many compliments from friends and other family members about this shade.

I completely feel it is worth the price of £4.99 and I'm very keen to try out some of the other colours in the range now. Let me know if there's any colours you love that I should try; thanks for reading,

A Day in London (Fire & Stone, Wicked and The Theatre Café's 1st Birthday!)

On Saturday my friend Tabitha and I had a trip to London to celebrate her birthday (even though it was a few months ago!). We got the train about 10am because we decided to make a day of our trip and headed into London. We had a very busy day planned and so we were incredibly excited!

We began the day by a little bit of shopping, (including me popping into Mac, watch out for a blog post soon about one of the Lipsticks I picked up). Then we had lunch at one of my absolute favourite places to eat in London: Fire and Stone. It's a Pizza Restaurant that takes inspiration from different countries in the world to create gourmet pizzas; I had the New York pizza and Tabitha had the London one.

But the main part of our trip came next: a trip to see Wicked. I am a huge fan of musical theatre, and Wicked has been one of the longstanding favourites in my eyes. This trip even made it the third time I've seen it! As soon as I stepped foot out of the Victoria Tube Station my eyes saw the Apollo Victoria Theatre and my excitement truly grew. I definitely couldn't miss my chance to take photos outside; I know, I'm a total tourist; then it was time for us to take our seats. We were in the Dress Circle Row Q and we still had a pretty good view!

Wicked is based on the 1995 novel 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West' and is the 'untold' version of before, during and after The Wizard of Oz. They describe it as:

"Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first met as sorcery students at Shiz University: the blonde and very popular Glinda and a misunderstood green girl named Elphaba.

Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths. Glinda's unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power wile Elphaba's determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have an unexpected and shocking consequences for her future.

Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West."
I had very high expectations for Wicked, after seeing it twice already, and it certainly didn't disappoint! It was as flawless as previous times I've seen it and the music was just as exciting as previous visits. The performers left me overwhelmed and re-installed the feeling into me of why I'm training to be in musical theatre! Looking around the theatre, the audience around me also looked captivated from their powerful, emotional and funny performances.

After the show, we decided to visit the Theatre Café because it was their 1st Birthday and we were eager to get involved in the action at their Shafesbury Avenue location. Throughout the day there were performances from people in the Musical Theatre Industry and when we arrived Carrie Hope Fletcher was there! If you have read my previous post about my trip to see Les Misérables you will know that I'm a huge fan and I even met her back in ... It was amazing to see her again and watch her sing.

The atmosphere was incredible as it was packed; you can see from the video above just how many people were squeezed into the Café. It was great to sing songs from Musicals with other Musical Theatre fans and I thoroughly enjoyed myself as always!

Then we traveled back to the train station by tube to go home. We had an amazing day and I hope you enjoyed reading what we got up to on Saturday. Thank you for reading,

My Top 3 Tips to Beat the 'January Blues'

I don't know about you, but this year I've really felt the January Blues! It can be the most miserable month of the year with Christmas seeming a distant memory thats left you broke and really feeling January's awful weather. Leaving home to go back to Dance School was harder than ever this January and so I thought I'd share with you how I got through my January Blues this year!

1. Plan something fun!

One of the reasons why January can be so depressing is because there's nothing to look forward to; it's not like December where the build up to Christmas keeps you constantly excited. Therefore, one of my biggest tips is to plan something fun.

It doesn't have to be expensive, if your like me then Christmas will have left you broke. So it's probably better if it's not! It just needs to be something that you will look forward to throughout the gloomiest month of the year.

The thing I looked forward to this month was a trip to London! My friend Tabitha and I decided to book a trip to see Wicked in the West End to celebrate her birthday (even though it was a couple of months ago!). We went yesterday and I will have a post about our day in London up on Wednesday, so check back (at 7pm) to see what we got up to; it really was a fun filled day!

2. Pamper yourself

One of the best things to do when you're feeling down is to pamper yourself with all your favourite things. Pampering yourself never fails to brighten up your mood; for me this month, it has been: to take a hot bubble bath with my favourite Lush products, use face masks and paint my nails.
My favourite Lush Bath Product this month has been the Shoot For The Stars Bath Bomb

3. Watch funny movies or TV shows

My last tip is to have an evening watching either your favourite comedy movies or TV shows. Grab your favourite snacks (mine is 100% chocolate) and spend your evening laughing. Trust me, it helps so so much to sit and giggle because you forget about pretty much anything that is bringing you down after the excitement of Christmas.

I hope you enjoyed reading my top three tips to beat the January Blues and I really hope they help you too! Let me know if there is anything important that you do that I've missed off my list. Thank you for reading,

Doll White Teeth Whitening Strips*

I am always up for trying a new teeth whitening product as who doesn't want lovely white teeth. Recently, Doll White gave me the opportunity to try a week's supply of their Teeth Whitening Strips - and I very quickly jumped at the chance!

Doll White's packaging and their approach to whitening teeth is very simple and does exactly what it says on the label - whiten teeth. The box includes fool proof instructions to take the strips out of the packaging (after brushing your teeth), push them onto your teeth and leave for 30 minutes. The strips are invisible, tasteless and you barely notice them on your teeth. I then brushed my teeth again, each time I used them, to get rid of any remains.

Teeth whitening products haven't always worked that well for me in the past so I wasn't expecting too much from this product... But boy did they prove me wrong! I'm only on day 3 of my 7 day trial of the products and my teeth are already noticeably whiter; I've already had a few compliments on how my teeth look whiter!

The thing I love most about this product is that they are non-peroxide so won't damage your teeth or gums; it seems like a win win situation to me! They also won't break the bank at £18.99 (for a fortnight's worth) either. If you were looking for something cheap and effective then I would definitely recommend giving them a go. You can buy them online here!

I will update this blog post however once I've finished my weeks worth of strips! Thank you for reading,

Lush Online Boxing Day Sale (Haul)

The Lush Sale was stressful for most people this year with the site going down from the amount of people trying to access it. As I got more and more annoyed, I thought it was best to visit my local store on the morning of the Sales (read more here). Unfortunately there wasn't as much left as I had hoped!

Therefore I decided to keep trying the website until I was able to make an order. There were a lot of issues and I kept having to refresh the website, which was incredibly frustrating. In the end, I  managed to also place an order online... by 2am the next morning! I ended up checking out with two gift boxes and a few of the single Bath Bombs; the package came through at the end of last month so I thought I would show you what I was lucky enough to pick up!

I bought double the amount than I normally would have, as my sister wanted some products too; so we ended up with the Christmas Bath Time Favourites gift box and the Sleeps 'Till Christmas gift box. We also each got a Dashing Santa Bath Bomb, a Cinders Bath Bomb and a Father Christmas Bath Bomb!

The Christmas Bath Time Favourites gift box included the Bath Bombs: Luxury Lush Pud, Golden Wonder, Frozen, Father Christmas, Yog Nog, Think Pink, Cinders, Butterbear, The Experimenter and Avobath.

The Sleeps 'Till Christmas included: Snow Angel Bath Melt, Peeping Santa Bubble Bar, Intergalactic Bath Bomb, Frozen Bath Bomb, 5 Gold Rings Bubble Bar and Father Christmas Bath Bomb.

We decided to take it in turns to pick a Bath Bomb each until we each had half of the haul each! I ended up with: a Luxury Lush Pud, A Dashing Santa, Cinders x2, Father Christmas x2, 5 Gold Rings, a Golden Wonder, a Frozen, a Butterbear and a Yog Nog.

I am extremely happy with what I got from the Lush 2015 Christmas Sale; I am very stocked up on products to use from now until the next collection comes out for Valentines Day! Did you manage to get anything in the 2015 Boxing Day sale? Let me know in the comments below, thank you for reading,

December Favourites

I'm back in Leigh On Sea now and the Wifi's been terrible, I've really struggled to get this post up today! I hope you had an amazing New Years Eve/Day and that 2016 has been great for you so far! I can't believe that this is already my first post of 2016, where has the time gone?! I've never done a favourites before, but I thought it was about time to do one and let you know what I've been loving in the last month of 2015.

1. Savour the Season Yankee Candle

The first thing that I've been loving this month is Yankee Candle's Savour the Season candle. This Yankee Candle is new for the 2015 and if you read my Christmas Tag you will know that, for me this scent brings back a lot of Childhood memories. I absolutely love this smell and have been burning this candle as much as I possibly can over the month of December. It reminds me of a mix of cinnamon, Christmas and cookies and so is the ideal scent when you'd like you home to smell festive this season.

2. Lush Dashing Santa Bath Bomb

When I picked this Bath Bomb up with a number of other Lush products from the 2015 Christmas collection, I really didn't expect it to be my favourite! This was because I had also picked up some of the reappearance products I've used and loved in the past. However, I absolutely love the scent and the colours used in this Bath Bomb and it quickly made its way to being my favourite (read more here).

3. Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks, No.1 and No.107

I've been using more darker/redder coloured lipsticks this winter, rather than the nude colour lipsticks I go to on a day to day basis.  No.107 as it's the perfect plum toned colour that isn't too dark or too purple, I've used it a lot since autumn, into winter/December; No.1 is the perfect bright red which was the perfect shade to wear on Christmas Day!

4. Hollister Patterned Blanket Cardigan

I took a trip to Westfield Shopping Centre at the beginning of December for the first time and bought this cardigan as I didn't have enough warm clothes for the winter weather; ever since I've struggled to take it off! It's so warm and is the perfect thing to wear when your out and about Christmas shopping or even taking a walk in the cooler weather.

5. 'All I Want for Christmas' by Mariah Carey

I took a dance workshop at my old dance school when I came back from Dance School at the beginning of December and we danced to this song. Ever since I've had it on repeat (along with the other songs in my Christmas playlist, but this has to be my favourite) and I really can't get enough of it!

6. L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Mono Eyeshadow, Golden Nude

This has been my go to eyeshadow colour throughout the whole of December, especially as the gold shade goes perfectly with a red lip which is perfect during the festive season. It's such a lovely colour and is so easy to put on; the glittery shade adds a touch of glamour which has been perfect to wear this December.

7. Dorothy Perkins Ivory Fairisle Christmas Jumper

When I got back from Dance School I realised that I didn't own a Christmas jumper; being a lover of Christmas this really shocked me! Therefore, as soon as I could I took a trip to my local shopping centre and picked up this jumper from Outfit. This has been perfect for keeping me warm this Christmas and I've basically been alternating this jumper with the cardigan mentioned as #4!

8. Eyelash Extensions

If you read my blog post about these you will know that I got eyelash extensions for the first time this month; I'm completely hooked, I've even been back to have them infilled since because I love them so much! I've felt so much more confident since I've had them done. I can even go out and about in the day without wearing makeup due to the confidence boost; this is definitely a first for me!

I hope you enjoyed reading my first favourites post, what were your favourites from December? Thanks for reading,
